2008 NAPM Golf Tournament
“SOLD OUT - GREAT SUCCESS”

Years have passed since we could say “Sold Out” for NAPM-Houston Inc.
fundraisers and this year we have been very fortunate that both fundraiser events;
the Supplier Expo and the Golf Tournament were sold out days in advance of the
events. This was possible thanks to the great support of the sponsors, suppliers and
NAPM members that stepped up to the plate or better said: to the Tee Box or Exhibition
Table that we enjoyed an excellent fundraising year that will help our organization
education activities.

For the golf tournament the weather forecast was for a sunny day, but like everything
related to weather is unpredictable we had some rain. Those 15 to 20 minutes of rain
didn’t diminish the golfers’ enthusiasm for the game in fact they helped add a little spice
in the game.

Approximately 296 golfers showed up to the Cypresswood Golf Club for the tournament
on Thursday, May 22. There was no room to spare on both the Cypress and Creek
courses.

There is no better way to close a golf tournament than spending some time with your
golf buddies having a delicious Texas style BBQ meal, a raffle and an award ceremony
where prizes were handed out to the best teams, to the longest drive and to the shot
closest to pin.

You can see the pictures of the event in the NAPM-Houston website, www.napmhou.org
We want to thank all the NAPM members that made this event possible.

School Partnership Committee Update
By Debbie Newman

What a busy and great year it has been for the School Partnership Committee!

During September we invited the school principals from our adopted schools to join
us at our Sept dinner meeting. Sue Bargaleski, Principal of Scarborough and Monique
Smith, Assistant Principal at Patrick Henry attended and the Patrick Henry Mariachi Band
performed prior to the meeting.

NAPM Houston collected school supplies including hundreds of boxes of crayons,
more than 20 boxes of binders, thousands of pens & pencils, boxes of spiral notebooks
& pocket folders, notebook paper, glue, rulers etc.

In November groceries and $90 for holiday food baskets were collected for needy
student families.

During January & February several members donated binders, schools supplies,
large calendars, used office supplies, craft supplies, party favors, etc.

During April & May the committee worked with the schools to support yearend events;
and assisted Patrick Henry and Scarborough with the purchase of special t-shirts for
TAKS test week.  We helped identify a very competitive price, found a corporate donor
for part of the cost and the Committee made a donation to pay for freight, artwork, etc.
NAPM Houston also donated $75 for refreshments at the Patrick Henry 8th Grade Dance
and $50 for refreshments at the Patrick Henry May 15th 6th & 7th Grade Field Day and $50
for refreshments at the Patrick Henry 8th Grade Field Day.  In addition $75 for
Scarborough year end awards (honor roll, perfect attendance, etc.) and donated $50 for
refreshments at the Scarborough Year End Recognition ceremonies were contributed.  The
Committee also contributed $46 for Scarborough summer school attendance awards.

NAPM Houston is making a difference in the lives of many students at our adopted schools
and we wouldn’t be able to without the ongoing support of our members and the Board.
Your support has been greatly appreciated. It has been an honor and a privilege to chair
the School Partnership Committee for the past several years.  Please extend your support
to the new 2008 / 2009 committee chair and our adopted schools.
